BYLAWS
  1. The Executive Board will always be made up of eleven positions, plus any president may elect to stay on the board as a past president for up to five years in an advisory capacity and shall maintain their voting status. All elected positions must be PRIMARY members of the Association. PRIMARY members will hold an annual election once a year to elect officers to a one-year term or two-year term, which coincides with the Annual Conference. The positions to be elected are President-Elect (one-year term), Vice President of Education and Conferences (two-year term), Vice President of Membership (one-year term), Secretary (one-year term), Treasurer (two-year term). Executive Board members to be recommended by the Vice President of Membership and appointed to a one-year term by the President are Director of Commercial Members and three Members at Large. The Executive Board should reflect the type of organizations and the regions of Florida represented in the PRIMARY membership. Newly elected Executive Board members will be announced at the annual conference and subsequently posted on the association’s website.

  2. A PRIMARY member is defined as a post-secondary institution operating in the state of Florida. An INDIVIDUAL member is defined as a person who is currently employed or retired from a postsecondary institution operating in the state of Florida. An ASSOCIATE member is defined as a post-secondary institution operating outside the state of Florida. A COMMERCIAL member is defined as a business or organization that regularly performs services which support post-secondary institutions in the state of Florida. The Vice President of Membership will review all membership applications to determine the type of membership and will forward a recommendation to the Executive Board. The Executive Board will approve all membership applications.

  3. Under no circumstances will a membership list be sold to a nonmember or distributed to other organizations without the consent of the association’s membership and Executive Board.

  4. The annual membership amount due for a PRIMARY member is indicated on the Membership Application.  For voting purposes, a PRIMARY member in good standing is allowed one vote. A PRIMARY member shall identify as many as two representatives to act as the point of contact to be notified of sponsored functions and activities.

  5. The annual membership amount due for an ASSOCIATE member is indicated on the Membership Application. An ASSOCIATE member shall identify as many as two representatives to act as the point of contact to be notified of sponsored functions and activities. An ASSOCIATE member has no voting privileges.

  6. The annual membership amount due for an INDIVIDUAL Membership is indicated on the Membership Application. INDIVIDUAL members will be notified of sponsored functions and activities. INDIVIDUAL members will not have voting power.

  7. The annual membership amount due for a COMMERCIAL member is indicated on the Membership Application. COMMERCIAL members shall identify as many as two representatives to be notified of sponsored functions and activities. COMMERCIAL members will have no voting power.

  8. If an elected Executive Board member must be replaced before the end of the term, the remaining Executive Board members will recommend a replacement and the President will appoint. In the event that the President must be replaced before the end of the term, the President-Elect will assume the position.

  9. By-laws may be amended by a majority vote of Primary members voting.  Amendments may be submitted by the Executive Board or by petition of the members.
